Barcelona have enquired to Lazio about the possibility of signing Italy winger Antonio Candreva ahead of a potential summer move.

The international has impressed for the Rome-based club in Serie A so far this season, scoring three goals in 13 outings for the Biancocelesti, who headed into the winter break in 10th place, having amassed 23 points from their opening 17 games.

According to Sport, referring to Cittaceleste.it, Barcelona’s international sporting director Ariedo Braida is a major fan of Candreva—particularly attracted by his work rate, his determination and his versatility—and is looking to drive through a move for the attacker.

Indeed, it’s easy to see how the 28-year-old would fit well into the Barca starting XI; he is technically proficient, can play in a number of positions, is mobile and, perhaps most importantly, has demonstrated an ability to find the net with an encouraging regularity for a midfielder.

However, the player’s fee may prove to be a sticking point, with Sport revealing that Lazio have slapped a €35m price tag on the talented star, a figure that may well discourage Barca.

Chelsea were linked to the player back in November [as per the Daily Star], and may yet look to challenge the reigning European champions for his signature, while Sport note that AC Milan and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the former Udinese and Ternana man.
