Barcelona have confirmed that they have no intention of letting Brazilian superstar join Manchester United even though a deal to sign Paris Saint Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi has reportedly been agreed, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Argentine forward has been a long time target for the Nou Camp side, and The Mirror report that there are strong indications that he will sign a Bosman deal with the club in January.

But his arrival is not expected to have any domino effect on Neymar’s future, with The Mirror claiming that Barcelona are still hopeful of tying him down to a new deal in Catalonia despite budgetary constraints.

And despite Neymar’s father confirming that there was an approach for his son over the summer, the 23-year-old has assured Barcelona’s fans that he will be remaining at the club (via Mirror).

“The renewal is under way,” he said.

“I still have years left on my contract. I’m going to sign. The fans can relax.”

The Mirror goes on to report that Lavezzi had been targeted by the Spaniards long before the arrival of Ariedo Braida and Robert Fernandez – two of the main influencers in Barcelona’s transfer policy – at the club.

With injuries to the likes of Lionel Messi and Rafinha, and following on from the departure of Pedro, it is thought that Lavezzi would be perfect to add some strength in depth to the club’s forward line (via Mirror).
