Dimitri Payet once again scored a late goal for France as his side beat a defiant Albania 2-0 in Marseille on Wednesday night to make it two wins in two for the hosts at EURO 2016.

It took until the 90th minute for the deadlock to be broken, when substitute Antoine Griezmann nodded in Adil Rami’s cross to break Albania’s hearts, before Payet countered superbly with the visitors throwing men forward to curl home and grab his second of the tournament.

It was once again the West Ham United midfielder who stole the show, and not merely because of his 96th minute solo effort. Payet was up to his usual tricks, pulling off dazzling flicks, cute passes and tremendous bits of skill throughout and looked full to the brim with confidence.

The former Lille man is making only his first appearance at a major international tournament is determined to make it his own, having scored twice and created a whopping 14 chances for his team-mates in only 180 minutes of football.

To put that into perspective, Zinedine Zidane – who hold’s the record for most chances created in one tournament at EURO 2004 – created 15.

It is no wonder all of Europe’s top clubs have begun to circle the Hammers’ midfielder – none more so than Chelsea.
