Ian Murray has resigned as St Mirren manager after only six months in charge of the Scottish Championship club.

His decision came after a 1-0 defeat away to Dumbarton, who the 34-year-old left at the end of last season.

Murray took charge after Gary Teale was sacked following the Paisley side’s relegation from the Premiership.

But his team are sitting third bottom of the table, only four points ahead of bottom side Alloa Athletic and without a home win this season.

More to follow.
