Real Madrid will target Tottenham striker Harry Kane as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer as they look to start a new era at the Bernabeu.

With speculation continuing to link the Portuguese international with an exit in the summer, the Spanish giants have been forced to consider their options without him.

As a result, that search has taken them to White Hart Lane with Kane impressing the hierarchy with his form for both Spurs and England over the last 12 months, as reported by The Telegraph.

While the two clubs enjoy an amicable relationship given their dealings in the past with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale moving to Spain, it is felt that Spurs, if forced into a position where they feel as though they have to sell their star striker, would much prefer to sell to the La Liga side rather than a domestic competitor.

The 22-year-old signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the club last February, and it is expected that his form in recent months is likely to ensure that he is handed a significant wage increase.

Given that his form on the pitch has been enough to attract the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, the Telegraph also note that Kane’s marketability is also an appealing element in signing him as he has secured deals with BT Sport and Nike over the past year as his stock continues to rise.

The CIES Football Observatory released their most-valuable players list earlier this week, and with Kane ranked at number five with a valuation of €91m, it remains to be seen what level of offer it would take for Spurs to open talks if Madrid come calling in the summer.
