Barcelona wasted little time to get into their stride on Saturday afternoon as Munir El Haddadi handed them a 1-0 lead over Malaga after just a minute’s play.
Luis Suarez gathered the ball in the Malaga box and took it to the byline before sliding the ball across the face of the goal for the on-rushing Munir to finish for the most simplest of goals.
Having fallen behind so early on, it was unclear as to how the home side would react to their immediate setback, with the Catalan giants threatening to make it a miserable day.
However, to their credit, Malaga went close to an equaliser shortly after with Charles almost finding a response, but they will undoubtedly have it all to do as the game goes on.
The hosts will naturally be desperate to get back into the encounter, but know that pushing forward will in turn leave gaps at the back for Barca to exploit.
Luis Enrique’s men will be fully aware of the fact that a win will take them back above Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga table momentarily at least, as they continue to play catch-up with a game in hand following their exploits at the Club World Cup last month.
